Why are EcoHaus laundry detergent sheets more expensive?
Laboratory-verified as safe for human skin and clothing at the Technical University of Liberec
We don’t just sell claims. While ordinary products meet only the basic legal requirements, we go beyond what is mandatory. Our sheets have undergone independent laboratory assessment of their composition, biodegradability (ability to break down in nature) and the safety of textiles after washing.
At the Technical University of Liberec, textiles washed with selected scents were confirmed to be gentle to people and nature (biocompatibility) and non-irritating to the skin.
Biodegradability tested according to OECD
We don’t just claim biodegradability – we have had it laboratory-tested according to the international OECD 301F method. The test shows that the tested scents of EcoHaus laundry detergent sheets are able to biodegrade. Simply put, the substances gradually break down with the help of microorganisms and do not remain in the environment long-term.
High concentration of active washing agents verified by laboratory tests
The composition was analysed at CXI – the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation of the Technical University of Liberec, a leading research centre focused on materials and chemical analysis. The laboratory determined how much active washing agent the sheets actually contain.
The result showed that roughly one third of the sheet consists of active washing agents (surfactants). The rest consists of components that help the wash work properly, such as water softeners, stabilising components and the soluble structure of the sheet that holds the washing agents together. These components are a standard part of modern detergents and allow the sheet to dissolve quickly in water so that the washing agents can work effectively. This makes the sheet not just a carrier of detergent, but its concentrated form.
Verified by sustainability experts
We regularly consult our claims with sustainability experts from EnviTrail, who specialise in carbon footprint calculations, product life cycle assessment (LCA) and impacts on the environment, society and corporate governance (ESG reporting). This means we only communicate what we can back up with data, methodology or standards, and avoid vague claims such as “eco” or “planet-friendly”. Our goal is for product information to be clear, verifiable and transparent.
Verified for safe contact with skin
In a laboratory assessment, textiles washed with EcoHaus sheets were rated as non-irritating (not irritating) to the skin.
We tested safety using modern laboratory methods on human cell cultures. A human skin model is used (for example keratinocytes or the EpiDerm model), which makes it possible to verify whether substances irritate the skin and whether textiles are safe for skin contact after washing.
And the result? Textiles washed with EcoHaus sheets were rated as non-irritating to the skin.
EcoHaus laundry sheets aren’t just another generic wholesale product.
Several years of work, testing, and collaboration with experts have gone into developing them. We didn’t want to create the cheapest laundry sheet on the market, but a product that really works and is safe for people and the environment.
We test the ingredients and safety, verify biodegradability, work with a university, and communicate without greenwashing.
That’s why the price reflects not only the laundry sheet itself, but also development, testing, and transparency.
This means that the substances in the product can naturally break down through the action of microorganisms in the environment. The biodegradability of some varieties of EcoHaus laundry detergent sheets was tested according to the international OECD 301F method, which simulates real-world environmental conditions.
The results showed almost complete biodegradation, meaning the substances gradually break down and do not remain in the environment for a long time.

This means we didn’t just verify the product’s composition on paper using information from our raw material suppliers—we had it independently analyzed in a laboratory.
Thanks to this analysis, we have verified what the paper actually contains and don’t rely solely on claims made by the manufacturers of individual ingredients. This helps us communicate the composition transparently and based on data, rather than just marketing claims.
At first glance, they may look the same. The difference lies in who develops the product, whether it is tested, and whether the brand communicates transparently.
While competitors often cut corners on certifications and the supply chain, we invest in them. Our formula is future-proof (ready for stricter standards in the future); we go beyond mandatory testing and verify our claims. EcoHaus is a Czech brand that invests in development, testing, and open communication.
There are many marketing claims about sustainability today. That’s why we work with sustainability experts (such as EnviTrail) and strive to communicate only what we can substantiate. Our goal isn’t to appear “eco-friendly,” but to be truly responsible.
EcoHaus was founded by Petra Doubková while she was working on a premium drugstore project during a startup competition at the Technical University of Liberec. The brand was built without investors and gradually grew through its customer community.
A social enterprise employing people with disabilities contributes to the production process. This method of production is more costly than automated assembly-line production, but we believe that business can also have a positive social impact.
Laboratory analysis showed that approximately one third of the sheet consists of active cleaning agents (surfactants).
The rest is made up of ingredients that help the detergent work, such as water softeners, stabilizing ingredients, and the soluble structure that holds the sheet together. These ingredients are commonly found in modern laundry detergents.
Really remove? It might not be available anymore.
