Citric Acid – Natural Limescale Remover

Common mistake: Combining with sodium percarbonate (PUER)will cause these two substances to neutralize each other and lose their effectiveness.Similarly, the combination with baking soda is ineffective, as they neutralize each other and you only get harmless foam. Use citric acid for cleaning separately!

Usage: Cleaning the toiletis a breeze with citric acid. Pour it into the toilet, where it slowly dissolves and works on limescale. So after 20 minutes, all you need to do is scrub the toilet with a brush and the deposits are gone.

Removing limescaleis also useful in the kitchen. Fill a kettle with 1 liter of water, add 2 tablespoons of citric acidand turn it on to 100 °C. After boiling, rinse with clean water, wipe with a sponge, and you have a kettle like new.

Warning:Do not use white vinegar to remove limescale from appliances.Although it works similarly to citric acid, it is stronger, damages rubber seals and adhesives, and if used in a kettle, it will fill your entire apartment with its specific smell.

Create a solution for polishing glass and stainless steel surfaces. Dissolve 2 teaspoons of citric acid in 1 liter of warm water. Apply the solution using a spray bottle to the surfaces you need to polish and then wipe them with a dry cloth. Citric acid not only removes stains and fingerprints but also leaves glasses sparkling clean.

Add 1–2 tablespoons of citric acid directly into the washing machine drum before starting the wash. This will achieve water softening, which improves the effectiveness of detergents and also protects the washing machine from limescale.
