How to remove a blueberry stain:
Quick chemical-free rescue
A story from life
"I was making homemade blueberry dumplings, and as I was carrying the plates to the table, some of the sauce dripped right onto my white blouse. The juice soaked in in seconds. I would have given up right then, but my grandmother once told me a simple trick. I tried it, and it worked. The blouse is as good as new."

Why blueberries are so strong
Blueberries contain powerful natural dyes - especially anthocyanins - that absorb quickly into the fabric. They produce distinctive purple to black stains on light-coloured clothes. The fresher the stain, the better the chance of removing it. But it's also important to know what to avoid.
How to treat a blueberry stain step by step
What helps:
- Cold water
- Baking soda
- Citric acid or lemon juice
- EcoHaus Washing Papers
- Sodium percarbonate (for white laundry only)
Procedure:
- Rinse the stain with cold water - ideally immediately.
- Pour baking soda on the damp stain and add a little lemon juice or citric acid dissolved in water. Why it works: the acid helps neutralise the dyes, the soda releases them from the fibres.
- Leave it on for 10-20 minutes, gently wash.
- Wash clothes with EcoHaus Washing Papers at 30-40°C. Why it works: Handles natural dyes, sugar and any grease from sauces.
- For white laundry, add sodium percarbonate. Why it works: Releases active oxygen that breaks down the dye without disturbing the fabric.
What to watch out for
- Don't use hot water - it will fix the dye into the fibers.
- Don't wait - blueberry stains dry quickly.
- Avoid bleach - it may change the colour but won't remove the stain.
➙ Tip from Grandma Petra
For a very fresh stain, it helps to soak clothes in cold water with a little lemon juice. Sometimes a few minutes is enough.
➙ Tip from the cleaning lady
If you're left with a hint of purple shadow, try a combination of baking soda and vinegar - let it bubble directly on the fabric and then wash again immediately.
