Washing soda – The master of water softening and stain removal
There isn't just one type of soda. While cleaning soda is a fine powder used for abrasive cleaning, washing soda (baking soda) is used for laundry. It softens water, enhances the effectiveness of detergents, and helps remove stains and unpleasant odors. It dissolves dirt and does not need to be activated with hot water (like sodium percarbonate).
✔ Softens water – prevents limescale buildup
✔ Removes grease – ideal for fabrics and kitchen surfaces
✔ Cleans textiles – increases the effectiveness of detergents and improves washing
✔ Neutralizes odors – great for refreshing laundry and trash bins
✔ Eco-friendly and biodegradable – gentle on nature and your home
Common mistake: Washing soda is very often included in laundry powders, but it doesn't clean much on its own – for brilliantly clean laundry, it needs a partner! Combine it with sodium percarbonate (PUER) for whitening and washing at higher temperatures. If you're washing at lower temperatures (30 °C), add TAED to the sodium percarbonate as well TAED.Do you want to make your own laundry powder? Add soap flakes for gentle washing.
Warning: Laundry soda is very alkaline and can irritate the skin, so it is recommended to use rubber gloveswhen working with it.
Usage: Add 1–2 tablespoons of laundry soda to your detergent for better effect and stain removal. You can combine laundry soda with laundry paper.
Make your own laundry powder: Grate natural olive soap finely. Carefully mix laundry soda (so it doesn't stir up too much and you don't inhale it) and soap in a ratio of 4:1. Store the mixture in a closed container. The recommended dosage is 2 tablespoons for 5 kg of laundry.
