How to remove a cream stain:
When a dessert or sauce misses your mouth
A story from life
"Cream dripped on my dress from a cream cake. The worst part was that you couldn't see it right away - but after washing it, there was a greasy stain. Lemon soda, vinegar and EcoHaus paper saved me. I'm happy to wear them again."
- customer Elisabeth
Cream is a common part of the kitchen...
...and sweet and savory dishes, but once it gets on clothes or tablecloths, it can make quite a mess:
- a greasy, light, sometimes almost invisible stain,
- containing fat, protein and milk sugar,
- it stays on the fabric even after it dries, and when it's warm, it literally "burns" into the fibres,
- if not repaired in time, a greasy shadow or even a musty smell remains.
The good news? We've got a process to get it out gently, organically, and with the help of grandma's and modern tricks.
Why cream is problematic
- It contains fat (even 30+% high-fat cream)
- also milk proteins and sugars that react to heat
- they cause yellowing or a musty smell when they dry
- ordinary washing often removes only the surface, but the rest remains
How to treat a cream stain step by step
What helps:
- Paper towel or absorbent cloth
- Baking soda
- Lemon juice or citric acid
- White vinegar 10% - breaks down grease
- Sodium percarbonate - for light-coloured linen
- EcoHaus Washing Papers
- Lemon or tea tree essential oil
Procedure:
- Wring out the fresh cream with a paper towel. Do not press, just gently press.
- Sprinkle with baking soda and drizzle with lemon juice - leave for 30 minutes.
- Then apply a mixture of vinegar and water (1:1) - ideally with a cloth or sponge.
- For light-coloured clothes, add sodium percarbonate to the wash.
- Wash with EcoHaus Washing Papers, programme up to 40 °C.
- Add lemon essential oil to the soak - it removes odours and brightens the textile.
What not to do
- ❌ Do not use hot water. The grease will melt and soak in.
- ❌ Do not let the stain dry. Over time, an odour and grey map develops.
- ❌ Do not iron before washing. You're fixing protein and fat.
➙ Tip from Grandma Petra
For cream, lemon, soda and patience. Vinegar will help with the grease, paper with the fine-tuning. If you can still feel it after washing, add lemon oil to the soak - it'll seal it in.
➙ Tip from Vlaďka - the cleaning lady
I've cleaned the cream off a tablecloth, a sweater and a sofa. Always the same: gently suck, soda with lemon, vinegar, wash with paper. For light-coloured ones, percarbonate - and that's it.
Recommended products:
- Baking soda - 1 kg
- Citric acid - 1 kg
- White vinegar - 1 l
- Sodium percarbonate - 1 kg
- EcoHaus Washing Papers
- Essential oils - lemon, tea tree
