How to remove an apple stain:
A natural process that works even on apples

A story from life

"I was giving my little one an apple snack when he suddenly pulled the spoon and the entire contents ended up on his sleeve. It looked harmless at first, but once it dried, it left a weird dark map. A classic wash didn't help. Then I tried lemon and soda and natural washing paper - and within one cycle the problem was over."

- Lenka, EcoHaus customer

Why apples can leave an unexpected stain

Apple puree or juice looks innocent, but it contains fruit sugar, malic acid and substances that oxidise on contact with air. The initially transparent juice may later leave a brownish shadow. The stains are typical of baby snacks, baked cakes or fresh juice.

How to stain apples step by step

What helps:

Procedure:

  1. Rinse the stain with cold water as soon as possible - ideally from the reverse side out.
  2. Sprinkle baking soda on the stain, cover with lemon juice or citric acid solution. Why it works: the acid handles oxidation, the soda neutralises the sugar residue.
  3. Leave it on for 10-20 minutes. Stir gently.
  4. Wash with EcoHaus washing papers at 30-40 °C.
  5. For light or white textiles, add sodium percarbonate when washing. Why it works: The active oxygen breaks down dark colour residues caused by oxidation.

What to watch out for

  • Don't wait until the next day. In the case of ice cream or applesauce, the pigment and sugar will "bake in" quickly.
  • Do not use hot water for first aid. It can set the stain.
  • Do not scrub with a dry brush. You'll push the pigment deeper into the fibers.

Grandma Petra's tip

Lemon water has always worked for apple stain - a little lemon in a cup of cold water and then just soak and let stand. It works wonders without chemicals.

Tip from Vlaďka - the cleaning lady

An apple stain is not so dramatic, but often a shadow remains. A mild vinegar and soda solution works for this - leave for a few minutes and then wash. For white fabric, feel free to add percarbonate.
